Day 1 Lisbon

Arrival at Lisbon airport. Reception by a French representative of LIGER TOURISM & CONSULTING.
Departure to discover Lisbon, the capital of Portugal located on charming hills, enjoying a unique geographical location, to which it owes its destiny as a cosmopolitan city. Its exceptional light enchants writers, photographers and filmmakers, the light houses that rise on the hills, where the ocher color of the roofs, the polychrome tiles azulejos and the winding alleys of the old neighbourhood’s give it an atmosphere transition city between the European North and the South.
Visit the famous district of Belém, with its gardens and monuments classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, the Lisbon of the Great Discoveries.
Visit of the Jerónimos Monastery, monument paying tribute to the exploits of the navigator Vasco da Gama and for its discovery of the first sea route to the Indies (visit of the nave).
Discovery of the fabulous tower of Belém (external visit), followed by the monument of discoveries turned towards the Tagus, fixing the horizon.
Tasting of the famous pastries of Belém (small flans in a puff pastry crowned with cinnamon), a century-old symbol of the traditional pastry of the convents which is part of the image of the Portuguese gastronomy.
Discovery of the museum of coaches housing one of the largest collections in the world. Breakfast in a local restaurant.
Afternoon, discovery of the low city of Lisbon, Praça Dom Pedro IV, better known under the name of Rossio, Praça do Comercio, Rua Augusta.
Installation in a hotel **** in Lisbon (EXE Park Hotel or similar).

Departure to the renowned seaside resorts of Cascais and Estoril, favored by their natural luminosity and the mildness of their climate.
Continue to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point in Europe with breath-taking ocean views.
Arriving in Sintra, a beautiful city at the foot of the mountain of the same name, its unique characteristics mean that UNESCO World Heritage has been forced to create a category specifically for the occasion that of "cultural landscape". In the twelfth century, the 1st King of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, conquered the Castle of the Moors, and later his successors built here their second home, the Royal Palace of the city, considered as an ex-libris of Sintra because of original conical fireplaces (visit included).
Typical lunch of squid kebabs and shrimp.
Afternoon, return to Lisbon.
Visit the old neighbourhoods of Alfama, Bairro Alto, a labyrinth with winding streets, wrought iron balconies and panels of Azulejos, with climb in one of the famous funiculars.
Continuation of our visits with the discovery of the Madre Deus convent and the National Museum of Azulejos. From this former convent of the sixteenth century you will admire the church and the cloister, while the museum will present rich collections of faience.
Back to your hotel.
Departure to your Fado Dinner party in a typical restaurant in the old town of Lisbon.

Breakfast and departure towards the beautiful medieval town of Óbidos, beautifully preserved, with white houses decorated with bougainvillea and honeysuckle, conquered to the Moors by the first King of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, in 1148. Later D. Dinis donated it to his wife, Queen Santa Isabel. From that time until 1883, the city of Óbidos and the surrounding lands still belonged to the queens of Portugal.
You will taste the famous Ginginha (liqueur sour cherry served in small glass chocolate).
Continuation to Nazaré, undoubtedly the most popular beach of the West Coast, one of the most traditional fishing towns, where we can still meet some women dressed in the traditional dress of seven skirts, who watch the fish that dries in the sun, aligned on stakes. Endowed with a magnificent light, an omnipresent sun, a fine white sand which extends since its promontory, this beach invites you to enjoy the pleasures of the ocean and the friendly hospitality of its inhabitants. Discovery of the fish market. Poison lunch by the sea.
Afternoon ride by funicular to the "sitio", monumental rocky promontory rising to more than 190 meters.
Continuation to Alcobaça, with the visit of the church of the abbey where are the tombs of King D. Pedro I (the cruel) and D. Inês de Castro, the Queen who was crowned after his death. Continuation of our visits with the discovery of Batalha, a city which developed around its monument inspired by heroic events, the great Portuguese victory over the Spanish troops during the Hundred Years War, the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitoria, the one of the most beautiful architectures of Manueline Gothic style in Europe (visit included).
Continue to Fátima.

Dinner, Folklore night and accommodation.

Breakfast and discovery of the famous shrine of Fátima, a place of pilgrimage, one of the most famous in the world, gathering every year thousands of pilgrims since the apparitions of the virgin.
Continue to Coimbra, the most important city south of the Douro River, which was for a time the residence of Count D. Henrique and D. Teresa, parents of the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, who was born there. In the Renaissance, Coimbra was transformed into a place of knowledge, when D. João III (1521-1557) decided to definitively set up the University in the city, while many colleges were created in parallel with the official teaching.
Visit the famous university and its famous library "Joanina2.
Lunch in a local restaurant, specialty: baked suckling pig accompanied by the excellent sparkling wine of the region.
Continuation of our visits with the discovery of Buçaco, ample and majestic forest, true botanical garden where one can meet nearly 700 native and exotic species. Among which we distinguish the Caucasian fir, the Buçaco cedar or the evergreen Sequóia (large tree that can reach 100 meters in height). In the nineteenth century, the Buçaco Mountain was the scene of the victory of the Portuguese on the Napoleonic troops.
Continue to Aveiro, capital of the Ria, vast lagoon basin where the fresh waters of the Vouga river mix with the waters of the sea. Aveiro, cut by watery streets where the colorful boats used to collect the silt and the aquatic plants, is one of the most interesting cities of the Portuguese coast. A typical boat ride included plus at least 45 minutes with tasting aboard the famous "Ovos Mole" pastry typical of the region and a cup of sparkling wine).
Arrival in Porto at the end of the day.

Breakfast and departure to discover Porto, capital and gateway to the northern region, Porto is an ancient city that gave its name to Portugal and wine known around the world: the Port Wine. With a magnificent location near the mouth of the Douro and an architectonic ensemble of exceptional value, the historic center of Porto has been a World Heritage Site since 1996.
Discovery of the famous "Bolhão" market, typical and incomparable, the Palace of the Stock Exchange and its famous Arab lounge.
Lunch in the typical and multicolored area of the Ribeira.
Afternoon, discover the Church of São Francisco, La Torre dos "Clerigos" (external visit), passing by the Station of S. Bento adorned with its 20000 azulejos retracing the history of Portugal.
Continue to Gaia on the opposite bank of the Douro where you will discover one of the innumerable wine cellar of Porto with tasting of this precious and so famous nectar.
Return to the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for a day cruise on the majestic Douro River.
Boarding at 09:15. Small snack on board. Climb the Crestuma-Lever Lock. Port wine and lunch, with drinks, served on board. Ascent of the Carrapatelo lock
Arrival at Régua at 16:30.
Return to Porto by train at 5.30 pm, arrival in Porto around 8.00 pm.

Breakfast and management Vila Real, visit the Palace of Mateus (gardens), built during the first half of the eighteenth century, according to the plans of Nicolau Nasoni, the Palace of Mateus, surrounded by beautiful gardens inserted into a large property, is considered one of the greatest powers of the baroque civil architecture in Portugal.
Continue to Guimarães. On December 13, 2001 UNESCO inscribed the historic center of the city of Guimarães on the World Heritage List. Distinction deserved for a city, full of historical reminiscences, which preserved its heritage and its public spaces for the pleasure of its visitors. For the Portuguese, Guimarães has a very special symbolic value, it was in a field near the walls of his castle that D. Afonso Henriques winner at the Battle of S. Mamede, on June 24, 1128, against the troops of D. Teresa, his mother and daughter of Afonso VI of Castile and Leon, initiated the course that would lead to the construction of the kingdom of Portugal, of which he would be the first king.

Continuation with the visit of "Bracara Augusta" (Braga), former Roman seat, which was built in 27 BC. Under the reign of the Emperor Augustus.
Visit the sanctuary of "Bom Jesus" of Braga (Rococo style church, famous for its double staircase).

Breakfast and discovery of the Serralves Foundation, Museum of Contemporary Art. The architectonic project of this museum was designed by the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira in a multidisciplinary perspective.

Free time to enjoy the pleasure of shopping on St. Catherine Street, one of the most commercial streets of Porto.
